3.5 PLAINTIFFS AND DEFENSE COUNSEL
Attorneys who handle civil cases may be private lawyers, or work for an organization, or may work for the government. Plaintiffs' lawyers are generally in private practice, although may civil suits are brought by organizations or the government. Similarly, many defense lawyers are also private lawyers, although many defense lawyers also have loose or formal affiliations with insurance companies which are often responsible for representing defendants in civil cases.
