If you are a solo practitioner, or belong to a small law firm, you should check out the monthly meeting of the BCBA Solo and Small Firm Section. We have no agenda, no rules and no CLEs. We talk about a broad range of work and non-work topics. The main purpose of getting together is to provide mutual support and to emphasize that being “solo” does not mean being along. Whatever is bugging you, someone at the group has probably dealt with that problem before. At least you will find sympathetic listeners. The second benefit of attending is that the group includes attorneys in many different fields of law. It’s a great way to meet other attorneys with different skills, for the times when your clients or your contacts need a referral for a matter outside of your practice area.
