Boulder County Bar Association Executive Director

 

The Boulder County Bar Association is seeking an Executive Director to oversee all bar association activities and report directly to the BCBA Board of Directors. This is a full time position based in Boulder that requires availability to attend evening and weekend events on occasion. Preference will be given to candidates with management experience in membership associations or other types of not for profit organizations. The target start date for this position is July 1, 2017. Job Description

 

This is a general job description of the position of Executive Director of the Boulder County Bar Association, which is subject to change at the discretion of the Board of Directors. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and shall serve at the will of the Board.

 

The Executive Director, together with the other officers, is responsible for the effective conduct of the affairs of the Bar Association. The Executive Director’s duties include managerial and administrative functions normally associated with that of an executive director, chief administrative officer and office manager. Specific duties of the Executive Director include the following:

 

  • Assist the Board of Directors in drafting and implementing the goals, projects, and objectives of the Bar Association;
     
  • Perform regular administrative and book keeping functions, conducting regular correspondence (including weekly updates and a monthly newsletter to members) and maintaining the formal records of the Bar Association;
     
  • Recruit Bar Association members, leaders and members of Board of Directors;
     
  • Keep Bar Association leaders apprised of issues that might affect the Bar Association or the legal profession and assist them in the discharge of their duties;
     
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, managing the budget, and performing regular financial reporting and record keeping functions;
     
  • Supervising other Bar Association personnel;
     
  • Organize and attend Bar Association meetings, continuing legal education events, community outreach events, and social functions, including evening and occasionally weekend events; and
     
  • Assist the Executive Director of the Boulder County Bar Foundation (the Bar Association’s related 501(c)(3) organization) on an interim basis and transition into the role of Executive Director of the Foundation.
