About the BCBA

Board Members, Judges and Sections

Organized in 1907 and incorporated in 1979, the Boulder County Bar Association has two purposes: to improve education and opportunities for lawyer members through programs and community relations, and to educate the public about their legal rights and responsibilities. The Bar Association also serves as a link between educational institutions, the media, state and national legal associations, and the lawyers of Boulder County.

The Boulder County Bar Association is governed by an elected Board of Directors which consists of three officers and six directors. Officers serve for a four-year track which advances them from Secretary/Treasurer through Past President. Directors serve for a three-year term.

Boulder County Bar members are entitled to participate in all local and state programs and events. Most Boulder County Bar Association members belong to the Colorado Bar Association. The Colorado Bar Association provides information about malpractice insurance, law office management guidance, continuing legal education opportunities throughout the state and many other services which local bars cannot provide. The Colorado Lawyer, the CBA monthly publication, is an excellent resource for attorneys practicing in Colorado.

The Boulder County Bar has several types of membership categories: Active, Retired, Honorary, Student and Associate. Non-lawyers (legal staff and professionals) are eligible for special membership under the Associate Member category.
