WHAT IS OUR MISSION?

The Boulder County Bar Foundation was incorporated in 1983 to raise and distribute funds to make distributions to legally related 501(c)(3) organizations.

WHO DO WE HELP?

The Foundation has supported a variety of organizations and worthwhile projects through grants. The following are recent grant recipients:

WHO ARE WE?

Fellows of the Foundation are members of the Boulder County Bar Association. The Foundation is governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees who are elected by the Foundation membership at the annual dinner. Each Trustee serves a three year term. The Board of Trustees for 2007-2008 are Wally Grant, Bruce Fest, Virginia Chavez, Robbie M. Barr, Stanlee West-Watt, David Driscoll, Star Waring, Bill Meyer, Melody Fuller and Christine Hylbert, Executive Director.

HOW DO I QUALIFY?

Each year a select group of Boulder County Bar members who have reached forty years of age are asked to become Fellows of the Boulder County Bar Foundation. New Fellows are often recommended by their colleagues and are honored at the March annual dinner.

Each member pledges to contribute a minimum of $100 annually for ten years, which is tax deductible. A Bar Fellow who has completed the ten-year commitment of $1000 becomes an Honorary Life Member of the Foundation. Honorary Life Members who maintain their support are recognized as Sustaining Life Members. Those Life Members who continue to support the Foundation become a Sustaining Life Member. Fellows who donate $2500 to $5000 will become Life Benefactor Fellows and those who give $10,000 will become Life Leadership Fellows.

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The 2007-2008 Board of Trustees has adopted the goal of substantially enhancing the Foundation's granting capabilities. Without jeopardizing corpus of the trust, the 2006-2007 grants committee awarded $9200. The Board aims to increase the number of grants awarded as well as the level of funding to individual grants so that the Foundation's contributions will significantly impact the community. The Foundation believes that support to legal education and law related projects is the best way to increase our profession's public image at the same time as providing public service to our Boulder County.
